Professional Training Course with Mark Cleary
Dublin, Ireland | February – September 2027
Develop Your Skills. Create Your Future. Add to Your Knowledge.
The Study and Practice of Healing is an intensive professional training programme created for people who want to develop practical hands-on healing skills, deepen their understanding of the human body and the healing process, and potentially develop their own healing practice.
This is not simply a meditation course.
It is not simply an energy-healing course.
And it is not simply a bodywork course.
It brings together Hands-on Healing, Professional Practice, Personal Development, Meditation, Breathwork and Awareness within one comprehensive training programme.
The course has been developed by Mark Cleary from more than three decades of clinical practice, study and teaching.
A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO HEALING
For more than 30 years, I have worked with people through hands-on therapy, healing, meditation and bodywork.
During that time I have studied and worked with many different approaches, including Amatsu, cranial work, meditation, yoga and traditional Japanese martial arts.
But over the years I discovered something important.
Technique alone isn't enough.
The practitioner matters.
How you listen.
How you observe.
How you touch.
How you remain still.
How you recognise what is happening beneath your hands without immediately trying to change it.
And perhaps most importantly, how you learn to get yourself out of the way.
This course is the culmination of that experience.
I will teach you the practical method I have developed through decades of working with clients, while also helping you develop the awareness, confidence and professional understanding necessary to work with people yourself.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
You do not need to already be a therapist to apply.
The programme has been designed both for people considering a new professional direction and for existing practitioners who want to expand the way they work.
It may particularly appeal to:
People considering establishing their own healing practice;
Therapists wishing to add a different hands-on approach to their existing work;
Yoga and Meditation teachers wishing to expand their professional skills;
Bodyworkers and Complementary Practitioners;
People interested in Healing who want structured professional training rather than a short workshop;
and those looking for meaningful work centred around helping others.
This course requires commitment. It is intended for people who are prepared to invest in themselves, practise what they learn and develop their skills between training weekends.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
The programme develops six interconnected areas:
HANDS-ON HEALING
Learn a gentle, structured approach to working with the body through therapeutic contact.
You will develop sensitivity through your hands and learn how to work progressively with the feet and lower limbs, pelvis and sacrum, scapulae, neck, occipital region and cranium.
The emphasis is not on force or manipulation.
You will learn to observe, support and allow the body time to respond.
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
Knowing how to work with a client is just as important as knowing where to place your hands.
You will learn how to meet a client, listen, observe, explain your work, obtain consent, maintain appropriate boundaries, keep treatment records and recognise when something falls outside your professional scope.
The objective is to give you the foundations from which you can begin developing a professional healing practice.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Working effectively with another person requires an understanding of yourself.
Throughout the course you will be encouraged to recognise your own thoughts, expectations, judgements and reactions.
The more aware you become of yourself, the less likely you are to impose yourself upon the person you are working with.
MEDITATION
Meditation is taught as a practical skill for the practitioner.
You will learn to develop stillness, concentration, presence and the ability to remain centred while working with another person.
BREATHWORK
The breath provides one of our most immediate connections to our physical and emotional state.
Breathwork will be incorporated throughout the training to develop awareness, stillness and presence.
AWARENESS
Ultimately, the course is about learning to notice more.
To see.
To listen.
To feel.
And to develop the confidence to trust what you are experiencing while remaining grounded within appropriate professional boundaries.
THE TRAINING PROGRAMME
The course runs from February to September 2027 and consists of five intensive in-person training weekends in Dublin.
Each weekend consists of 12 hours of face-to-face training, giving a total of 60 hours of in-person tuition.
Between training weekends, we will continue working together online.
From February through May there will be a one-hour online session approximately every two weeks.
During the summer practice period, this changes to one online session per month while students complete their case studies.
WEEKEND 1
Practitioner Awareness, Heart-Space & Meditation
27–28 February 2027
We begin with the practitioner.
Before learning how to work with another person's body, you will begin developing awareness of your own state.
This weekend introduces the philosophy behind the training and establishes the foundations upon which the practical work will be built.
We will explore meditation, breathwork, Heart-Space, intention, stillness, listening, non-judgemental awareness, practitioner/client relationships, consent and professional boundaries.
You will begin to understand what I mean by holding space for healing.
WEEKEND 2
Mushin — Stillness, No-Mind & Therapeutic Presence
27–28 March 2027
The second weekend introduces one of the most important principles of my work: Mushin, or "No Mind".
In simple terms — learning to get out of your own way.
You will begin developing sensitivity through touch while learning not to immediately interpret, judge or attempt to change what you feel.
We explore stillness, observation, intention, attachment to outcome, appropriate therapeutic contact and the difference between doing something to somebody and being present with them.
Structured partner work begins to bring these principles into physical practice.
WEEKEND 3
Client Assessment & Foundations of Hands-on Healing
24–25 April 2027
This is where the practical framework begins to come together.
You will learn how to meet a client, listen to their story, gather relevant information, explain the session and obtain informed consent.
We then move into structural observation and hands-on work.
You will begin learning the treatment sequence through the feet, calcaneus, lower limbs, knees, hips and pelvis.
You will practise maintaining gentle contact for sustained periods while observing how the client's body responds.
WEEKEND 4
Sacral, Spinal, Scapular, Occipital & Cranial Awareness
29–30 May 2027
We now expand the work through the body.
Building upon the previous weekend, you will explore the relationships between the pelvis, sacrum, spine, scapulae, cervical region and occiput.
You will also be introduced to gentle cranial contact and the perception of subtle rhythmic movement.
This is not about manipulating the body.
It is about developing increasingly refined sensitivity through your hands while maintaining the stillness and awareness developed throughout the previous modules.
By the end of this weekend, you will have completed 48 hours of face-to-face training.
And then the course changes.
THE SUMMER PRACTICE PERIOD
June – August 2027
Knowledge becomes skill through experience.
The summer has deliberately been built into the programme to give you time to practise what you have learned.
During this period you will complete 10 documented client case studies.
You will begin putting the different elements of the training together:
Meeting the client → Listening → Observing → Consent → Hands-on Healing → Reassessment → Reflection
You will not be left alone during this period.
We will meet online monthly to discuss your experiences, answer questions and help you understand what you are encountering in your case-study work.
This period is an important bridge between learning the method and becoming confident in using it.
WEEKEND 5
Whole-Body Healing, Integration & Practical Assessment
11–12 September 2027
The final weekend brings everything together.
You return with the experience of your case studies and the questions that naturally arise from working with different people.
We review and integrate the complete approach before moving into practical assessment.
You will demonstrate your ability to conduct a complete session professionally — from meeting and communicating with the client through observation, consent, hands-on work, practitioner awareness, completion of the session and reassessment.
Assessment is practical rather than written.
I am interested in more than whether you can remember where to put your hands.
I want to see whether you can listen, observe, feel, remain still, work safely and confidently, and know when to get out of the way.
YOUR QUALIFICATION
Students who successfully complete all requirements will receive a:
Certificate of Completion in the Study and Practice of Healing
The programme incorporates training in:
Meditation • Breathwork • Practitioner Awareness • Client Assessment • Hands-on Healing
Certification requires:
60 hours of face-to-face training • 100% attendance • 10 completed case studies • ongoing practical assessment • final practical competency assessment
Certification is based upon competency, not simply attendance.
FROM TRAINING TO PRACTICE
For some students, this course will deepen work they already do.
For others, it may mark the beginning of something completely new.
My intention is not simply to teach you a series of techniques.
It is to give you a body of knowledge and practical experience that you can continue developing long after the course has finished.
For those who choose to pursue it professionally, the training is designed to provide the foundations from which you can begin building your own healing practice and business.
Your practice might begin alongside your existing career.
It might complement work you already do.
Or, over time, it may become something much larger.
The direction you take it is yours.
